ahhhh unmanhandled pure citrus joy, a often overlooked world. I don't know if you take requests, but........if you do....ummmm ahhh what have you got in the realm of mango? They are still a little unripe here, but you must have ripe ones there. (I am still a little gunshy since the mango episode of 2002, but the scar is fading. (true story I was a wreck) by the by what happened to the limes??
Wink, the key limes have been squeezed and made curd as well. I may take a cupcake vacation (only temporary) and try my hand at pastry.
Suggestions are good... gets me thinking outside my comfort zone! And I must confess, I've never purchased, cut up, or made a recipe using fresh mango; but it is intriguing. Sorry to hear about the foul mango experience, I can only imagine.
I am sorry, but no, no break for you most pastry are far too complex for my pallet, I can appreciate your wanting to "stretch your culinary legs" so to speak, but for me, make mine cookies. As for my mango malady .... No you cannot imagine the horror and disgust of the event, this minor mention of the cursed event has raised my hackles, and sent me back to seek therapy, I am not well, nope not well at all, and my poison's name be mango
I noticed your comment in chockylit's blog & am wondering which stores your frequent for supplies (in Santa Clara County). I'm in Sunnyvale & the only place I know of to get supplies is Michaels... as my other favorite places have gone out of business.
carolat, what very basic supplies I have, I have purchased at Andronicos Market at the Stanford Shopping Center. Actually, they are having a sale right now on housewares: 25-50 percent off. They also stock some really fine, high-quality ingredients. And they are REALLY close to where I work, which does not hurt!
